The
number of participating surgeons ranges between 4
and 10, depending on the type of course. Training
is carried out either individually or in pairs at
each work station. This small group size has been
proven didactically superior and allows the tutors
to concentrate on each individual and thus optimize
the success of this course.
A
very important course element is the operating theatre
visits, which establishes a link between training
and clinical reality.
For
colon or abdominal operations vessels are perfused
in a pulsating technique, so that participants can
practice various dissection and coagulation techniques
in a near reality situation.
The
courses at MIC Training Centre at University of Tuebingen,
Germany are recommended by the Surgical Association
for Endoscopy and Sonography (CAES), The German Society
for Surgery, The German Society for Visceral Surgery,
the Surgical Association for Minimally Invasive Surgery
(CAMIC) and the European Association for Endoscopic
Surgery (EAES).
