intensive 3 day (Monday – Wednesday) course designed for
the surgeon who has an interest in colorectal surgery, has significant
experience of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and is at the point
of undertaking laparoscopic colorectal surgery under supervision.

rectum
• Hands on Training on Porcine Tissue
• Laparoscopic suturing practice on porcine tissue
• Hands on anatomical, ergonomic and practical skills

the end of the course each trainee should be able to:
• Explain the pros and cons of laparoscopic colorectal
surgery
• Know about the techniques for obtaining vascular control.
• Debate the place of laparoscopic colorectal surgery
for cancer
• Describe the indications, methods of patient selection,
patient information, risks and complications related to laparoscopic
colorectal surgery
• Know about anatomical considerations related to laparoscopic
colectomy
• Explain the risks of using various energy sources
• Demonstrate certain key skills related to lap colorectal
surgery:
• Positioning of trocars and instruments.
