The
aim of this course is to master laparoscopic cholecystectomy,
appendectomy, and the techniques of endoscopic suturing. This
course is specially designed to supplement the residency program
and is of international standard. The course is also very useful
for practicing surgeons who do not have any basic training in
Laparoscopic Surgery. The course is equally suitable for junior
surgeon starting out in minimal access surgery and the more
senior surgeon who is either new to laparoscopy or wishes to
refresh his laparoscopic skills.
During
the course practical exercises are presented with an increasing
level of difficulty and then complete training modules (cholecystectomy)
can be repeated as often as the participant requires. Each surgeon
will carry out at least 10 cholecystectomies as surgeon and further
10 procedures as a cameraman.
The
systematic introduction of the relevant basic techniques (suturing
and knotting) as well as the introduction of operative procedure
is carried out via video training films.
During
concluding theoretical instruction results from literature are
analyzed. Here we concentrate particularly on possible complications
and how to avoid them. The didactic structure of the course aims
at instructing safe surgical techniques.
